6 Points to Remember While Selecting a Lab Furniture
Selecting the best lab furnitures is not an easy
task. The type of lab design and the quality of lab workstations,
benches, fume hoods, chemical storage cabinets, chairs, stools, and
so on, you are going to search for, need to be premium which could
resist the laboratory environment. The lab furniture must be durable
enough to sustain for longer period of time, and most importantly it
must fall into reasonable price range. Other than that, there are
factors that one must take note of, that we have discussed below:
1. Warranty – It is a key factor
that must be taken into consideration. It is not just the amount of
duration but also other factors that matters. These factors are –
how much is the warranty of the laboratory furniture, how to make a
warranty claim, what comes under the warranty and what doesn't, who
to contact during warranty claims, how to follow the process, and
availability of extended warranty duration.
2. Product's availability – This
is important as well because if the furniture is not available, it
would be delayed in arriving at your pre-determined location. This is
because they might order that particular stock which is not there at
the first place, then they are going to send it to your location. So,
always make sure that the product is there in stock, else get ready
to wait till 10 weeks or so!
3. Support after sales – This is
important to know whether the sellers value their customers and
clients through providing the support they deserve. If the consumers
are not valued, they likely choose a different option. Try contacting
the seller through the phone and/or email they have provided and
check whether they promptly respond to your queries or not. This will
give you a general idea whether they are going to assist you after.
4. Usage – How often you and other
members are going to use that furniture? The durability of the whole
lab design will be there in accordance with this factor. Most labs
are used quite regularly and so prioritizing its quality is a must.
You may ask for samples from the seller to decide whether or not a
particular product would be suitable. You may also have a thorough
research on the list of sellers, their reviews from previous buyers
and so on. Do not get trapped into fake reviews.
5. Price – Many would get confused
on this part. The price not only covers the initial cost that you
paid while booking and actually getting the whole stuff, but it also
covers installation costs, operating, and maintenance costs, of
everything that you plan to buy; be it fume hood, fume cupboard, eye
wash, lab shower, ductless fume, mobile lab, lab consultant, trespa,
workstation and so on. Get the full information on this matter, such
as booking price, maintenance duration and price, installation cost,
and so on.
6. Services – Get to know whether
your products would be given the desired services. Some manufacturers
provide technicians or consultants, who look into the matter and
decide what needs to be done, whether the product falls under
warranty period, what to do next based on the current circumstances.
The above points are the key factors that should
be kept in mind before finalizing a lab furniture for your
institution. One wrong decision could lead you to misery. So, we
always recommend you to invest money with caution, so as to protect
yourself from potential loss.
